Support Women-Owned Businesses

When you support women-owned businesses, you’re doing so much more than just making a purchase — you’re taking a stand for women’s rights and independence. These businesses aren’t just about profits — they’re about empowerment, resilience, and giving women a stronger voice on the issues that directly affect their lives.

Women-owned businesses make up over 40% of all businesses in the United States, and they consistently show higher rates of community involvement. They’re not just invested in their success — they’re invested in the neighborhoods they serve, helping to create thriving, vibrant communities. By choosing to support them, you’re helping build a future where local economies flourish and women’s voices are amplified.

Every dollar you spend at a women-owned business fuels dreams, fosters independence, and provides resources for women to continue fighting for their rights. In contrast, many big-box corporations prioritize investor profits and often stand against policies that align with women’s rights and well-being. I have had the pleasure of meeting the owners of the businesses featured and it’s clear how much they care about their communities.

So next time you shop, dine, or hire — think local, think independent, think women-owned. Together, we can build a more equitable and empowered future. Support the businesses that truly support us all.

Women- Owned Businesses in Seattle

Arte Noir – Central Area

Art Noir started off in 2021 as an online publication promoting black artists and culture. They’ve since grown and now have a retail space that allows them to showcase the work and products of aspiring black artists and creators. In the store you will find stunning art pieces, clothing,  beauty products for men and women, gifts, that are sourced locally and internationally and more. I’m a huge fan of the rose petal facial scrub they carry, keeps my skin feeling fresh and clean. This is a must shop on the list and you can feel extra good because 100% of the net proceeds go to the creators.

Peti & Cedar House Flowers- Wallingford

So this one is a two for one.  Cedar house is one of those businesses that is never too busy for there customers. And believe me when you walk in you can see they stay busy. They are not only provide beautiful arrangements but provide tips on how to keep them looking fresh as long as possible. You can also find house plants and if you’re like me make sure you talk to them so they can help you keep them alive.

Peti is a boutique that specializes in curated clothing, accessories and jewelry.  You can find beautiful clothing here you won’t find anywhere else in the city. They also sell bath products, wonderfully scented candles, and more.

Marjorie

Seattle shed a lot of tears when Marjorie closed a fews years ago. The owner decided  to take a break and from the industry. She always maintained she was coming back but the wait was painful. Everyone was speculating on when it would reopen and where.  The new location in the Central Area’s Midtown Square is bigger and allows them to serve more guests. They didn’t miss a beat and still serve the same upscale flavorful cuisine they were known an adored for.

Musang – North Beacon Hill

I first went to Musang as part of a dinner group I’m in. Ask me all about that if you’d would like to be my guest. They specialize in Filipino food that is down home and upscale. The owner Melissa is down to earth and cares deeply for her community. I would suggest a dish but this is one of those restaurants where they are all good. If you find yourself in Beacon Hill its a must stop.

Winnies Cafe & Deli

Those that know me know I am not a big coffee drinker. If I’m drinking coffee, I’m drinking it so socialize or because it’s a shop that has coffee I enjoy. Winnie’s coffee checks my enjoyment box. They brew Ethiopian Coffee prepared in the traditional way and a variety of other styles. The cafe also offers snacks and pastries as accompaniment.
